This year, you made a resolution to visit the gym more frequently, but it may be difficult to leave the house when the days are short, the weather is chilly, and your motivation levels are already low. This holds true whether you attend a yoga class, a strength training session, or a cycle class.
You can fool yourself into being fit with a few of our favorite mental and physical ruses.
Find Off Hours
in your daily activities and at the gym. If you hate the New Year's Resolution after-work crowd, get an early start and hit the gym. By doing this, you will be less likely to give up when there is a long line to use the rowing machine.
To avoid running out of time, look for openings in your schedule: Are you waiting in the car outside when the kids go to karate? Find out if there is a gym close to their studio.
If you typically eat your lunch at your desk, look for a gym close to your place of business. It takes only a few minutes here and there to squeeze in a good workout.
Make plans to grab and go
For the workouts you fit in between meetings and picking up the kids from school, keep a bag in your car with the essentials, including shorts, a tank top, a sports bra, shoes, socks, a towel, and some personal care products, like dry shampoo, deodorant, and quick-wipes.
Never let this bag get completely empty; instead, try to always have two or three bags on hand (use old running shoes or inexpensive ones if necessary), so you can move them as needed around the house to prevent dirty laundry from piling up or a bag that is only holding toiletries.
Make the gym easily reachable.
On the way to and from work, map out a route that passes the gym. You lack the resources to make that happen. Whether you are going to a staff meeting or dropping kids off at school, find a gym that is close to your regular commute and cancel your current membership.
Convenience is key when trying to establish a new habit.
Make an effort to go in there
On the way to and from work, map out a route that passes the gym. You don't have the tools to make that happen. Whether you are going to a staff meeting or dropping kids off at school, find a gym that is close to your regular commute and cancel your current membership.

fool yourself. Make a vow to do just one set of leg presses or one set of planks for the entire five minutes. Once you've arrived at the gym and established a training schedule, you'll probably start to feel more enthusiastic about lifting.
Just like when you're on the trainer or out for a ride in bad weather, the first few minutes are always the worst.
Contact Others
You can exercise and socialize at the same time by meeting a friend for a yoga or spin class and then going out for coffee afterward. If hanging out with your friends involves working out, you may be saving time (and possibly calories by skipping breakfast in favor of a sweat session!).
acquire a trainer
Only if you are an "Obliger," as behaviorist Gretchen Rubin refers to this kind of person, do you stick to plans and goals that are driven by other people.
As a result, when you purchase a series of classes or training sessions, you are now committing to another person, and you don't want to let them down.
Prepaying also involves putting money on the line. You can create workout plans and learn routines that are more tailored to your objectives by working with a trainer, which might help you see results more quickly than you would if you exercised alone.
Create a bonus system.
Make up a bonus scheme for yourself that rewards accomplishments throughout the long and short terms. For example, you might be rewarded with a new pair of spin shoes if you maintain your three-times-per-week program for the first week.
A massage will follow that. Set up your incentive system beforehand so that if you miss a class, you're back at square one and that beautiful new jersey will have to wait, rather than just keeping things "loose."
Develop Your Fitness
Even though the thought of going to the gym sometimes makes you cringe, the results are always worthwhile. Take a selfie after a great workout and keep it so you can look back and remind yourself of that. You are aware that you engage in this behavior.
