An aneurysm is what?

An artery will enlarge because the walls of the artery are weak, which is a sign of an aneurysm. Even while many aneurysms go unnoticed, a ruptured aneurysm can result in serious consequences, such as internal bleeding that could be fatal.

According to statistics, aortic aneurysms alone cause more than 25,000 fatalities per year in the US. Additionally, death occurs within 24 hours in about 40% of brain aneurysm cases.

What signs are present?

Aneurysms frequently don't show any symptoms until they are about to burst. Unruptured aneurysms can still be dangerous, though, because they can restrict blood flow or cause blood clots that can lead to problems like ischemic stroke.

Rapidly expanding abdominal aneurysms might hurt the lower back or abdomen, whereas thoracic aneurysms can make it difficult to breathe and swallow, along with jaw, chest, and upper back pain. Depending on the underlying cause of the aneurysm, different additional symptoms may exist.

Peace be with you, Jo!
