Protein Increases Muscle Mass and Strength Gains During Extended Resistance-Type Exercise Training When Consumed Before Sleep

According to many experts, protein helps increase your body's metabolism, and having more lean muscle mass will lead you to burn calories even faster. But protein is the most important food you require for muscle growth and recovery after exercise.

According to the findings of a brand study from The Netherlands that was recently published in the Journal of Nutrition, consuming it before bed will not only increase your body's metabolism while you sleep (and all through the following morning! ), but it will also give you more muscle mass and strength gains in response to resistance exercise. This is what seasoned bodybuilders have known for years.

Although it has been established in past studies that eating protein before bed greatly promotes muscle growth, these researchers sought to see how exactly resistance-trained muscles would react to an increased protein consumption at night.

Snijders, Res, Smeets, and Van Vliet, the principal investigators, recruited 44 young men and divided them into two groups. One group received 27.5 grams of protein (casein hydrolysate) every night before bed for a 12-week period while the other received a placebo while engaging in the same exercise regimen.

The findings were unmistakable: compared to taking placebo supplements with the same training, taking protein supplements before bedtime and combining it with prolonged resistance training resulted in greater gains in sStrength of the keletal muscles, particularly during leg extensions and pushes.

Even though the individuals in both groups already followed a high-protein diet and got protein snacks after each training session, the benefits of protein supplementation before bed were dramatic.

Take this scientific advice seriously and improve your game because this study once again shows that dietary protein supplementation is the best plan for significant growth.
